Police Families Welfare Society organized “Mission Olympics Sports Meet-2019” in six different disciplines i.e., Athletics, Badminton, Football, Kabaddi, Shooting and Wrestling on 3rd January, 2019 at six different locations in Delhi. The highlight of the programme was inclusion of Paralympics to promote Divyang players. This event was conducted at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and Smt. Suchana Patnaik, President,PFWS, graced the occasion in the presence of senior officer’s wives and welfare staff. PFWS Paralympic player, Ms. Sangeeta Bhandari participated in shot-put & discuss throw event at J.L.N. Stadium and won the first prize. The team leaders of PFWS (wives of senior police officers) presided over the events at six locations i.e. New Police Lines, Shalimar Bagh, DDA Sports Complex, Vinay Marg & Village KheraKhurd. A total of seven athletic teams, four badminton teams, seven football teams, two kabaddi teams, three wrestling teams from different clubs and associations of Delhi apart from 20 shooters, participated in the sports meet and competitions were held with the PFWS Mission Olympics Teams and individual players. Sports celebrities Sh.Nirbay Singh (Athletics), Sh.Harjit Singh (Badminton), Sh.Jwala Singh (Football), Sh.Suresh Maan(Kabaddi), Sh.Anmol Arora(Shooting) and Sh.Ajay Khatri(Wrestling) were the chief guest in their respective games and they also distributed prizes to the winners. Out of 231 medals under contest in the Sports Meet, 115 medals were won by PFWS contestants and 6 trophies out of 10, were attained by PFWS Teams.
