About PFWS

About PFWS

PFWS, a non-profit organization under the welfare wing of Delhi Police, is dedicated to the holistic well-being of the families of the country’s largest metropolitan police force. Established in 1972, PFWS was envisioned to address the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and financial needs of Delhi Police personnel and their families, recognizing the demanding nature of their duties.

Over the years, PFWS has grown into a strong support system, currently operating 14 Welfare Centres across Delhi, including Ahata Kidara, Ashok Vihar, Begumpur, Dwarka, Hauz Khas, Jyoti Nagar, Kondli, Malviya Nagar, Model Town, Narela, New Police Lines, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, and Vikaspuri, along with a sub-centre at Ashok Vihar. These centres have evolved into vibrant hubs of learning, support, and community engagement, fostering a close-knit bond between Delhi Police personnel and their families. They are led by the dedicated wives of senior Delhi Police officers, who serve as honorary Team Leaders, whose consistent efforts and commitment have played a vital role in strengthening this community.

PFWS undertakes a wide spectrum of welfare initiatives aimed at empowerment and holistic development. It focuses on generating employment opportunities for the wards of Delhi Police, encouraging them to become self-reliant or “Atmanirbhar.” Vocational training is promoted through its newly established Sutra Embroidery Centre, stitching courses, jute product-making programmes, and other skill development initiatives. Educational advancement is further supported through newly introduced book donation drives, while cultural enrichment is encouraged through various cultural and national observances.

Health and well-being remain a key focus area, with PFWS organising medical check – up camps and promoting stress management through yoga, Zumba, and music classes. Additionally, the society conducts career counselling sessions, online educational programmes, and talent promotion initiatives such as Mission Olympics for the wards of Delhi Police personnel. Its efforts also extend to cleanliness drives, plantation drives, generating employment opportunities for retired personnel, and empowering women and youth, while promoting best welfare practices across its centres.

The Smita Therapy Centre at PTS, Malviya Nagar, operational since 5th January 2024, supports over 60 children with special needs from Delhi Police families through occupational, speech, and physiotherapy. Further strengthening this effort, the Kiran Centre for Special Children at New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, will soon open with modern facilities to support such children and their families.

Strengthening its institutional capacity, PFWS obtained 12-A and 80-G certifications under Income Tax provisions in 2018, along with GST registration, enabling it to receive CSR funding without tax liabilities so as to further expand its welfare initiatives

Over the past five decades, PFWS has evolved steadily under the visionary leadership and guidance of its presidents, each of whom has played a pivotal role in nurturing its growth and shaping its journey. Its Sthapana Divas is commemorated annually on 11th April through the event titled “UPAAN,” symbolizing its spirit of growth and service. With renewed dedication and vision, PFWS continues to strive selflessly towards the welfare, empowerment, and overall well-being of Delhi Police families, adapting to the evolving needs of the times.
