Mrs. Suchana Patnaik

President, PFWS

Mrs. Suchana Patnaik, President, PFWS, holds a masters’ degree in Sociology and a bachelors’ degree in Education. As an educationist and a teacher, she has spent a major part of her career in sharing knowledge and imparting values to young minds. She finds this endeavor to be deeply satisfying as, to her, it fulfills her life’s purpose. She feels responsible to extend the knowledge she has been fortunate to receive herself. The same passion for teaching and imparting knowledge has been a catalyst for her efforts at the PFWS welfare initiative, especially those that involved skill development, career counseling and learning for the children from Delhi Police Families.

The sociologist in her has been of immense benefit in understanding the social aspects and issues of the community. Her knowledge of sociology has been beneficial to the PFWS teams in understanding issues and conceptualizing initiatives that might support the cause in a systematic manner.

As a loving and dedicated teacher, she has been instrumental in the shaping of personalities of her students and making them sensible and responsible members of the society. She has been doing the same for the police family children. Her perspectives on familial contexts, skill and personality development of the students from police families have helped many in various PFWS initiative.

Widely experienced, she is driven by an innate desire to bring about a positive change in the lives of people around her. A strong believer of Lord Buddha’s teaching, especially -”Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened.” She has taken it as a motto of her life – to bring knowledge to as many as she can; as there is no light as bright as the light brought with knowledge. Being a teacher and helping someone brighten their life’s prospects through learning and gaining knowledge gives her joy and happiness. This, to her is the true happiness, as she mentions “Happiness never decreases by being shared.”

As an active and enthusiastic member of PFWS, she has always been an integral part of the various welfare activities and new initiatives being undertaken to bring about a positive change in the lives of our police families.
