“Closing ceremony of“Mission Olympics Sports Meet-2019” in collaboration with ONGC.

Police Families Welfare Society organized “Mission Olympics Sports Meet-2019” in six different disciplines i.e., Athletics, Badminton, Football, Kabaddi, Shooting and Wrestling on 3rd January, 2019 at six different locations in Delhi. The sports meet ended with the closing ceremony at Ambedkar Stadium on 4th January, 2019 which was attended by a large gathering of senior officers of Delhi Police, 500 police recruits, respectable from all districts of Delhi apart from more than 100 PFWS wards who are participating in the PFWS Mission Olympics-2020 and their family members. The Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (Retd.) AVSM was the Chief Guest along with Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi as Guest of Honour. Smt. Suchana Patnaik, president PFWS, Sh. Manoj Barthwal, GGM (HR), ONGC, Sh. Mr. J.S.Waraich, DGM Sports, ONGC, and other sports celebrities of ONGC were also present on the occasion. A total of 23 wards of police personnel were awarded with cash prizes for their achievements at International, National, State and Zonal Level in the above disciplines. The Hon’ble Minister complimented President PFWS, Smt. Suchana Patnaik and felicitated the team leaders for their contribution in this mission apart from Delhi Police Inspectors & Coaches who have been grooming the sport persons. The Minister also released PFWS Mission Olympics Souvenir which illustrated the journey of the mission apart from the achievements of wards of police families in furtherance of goal of the mission to nurture sporting talent hidden amongst the wards and to excel and bring laurels for the country. The Hon’ble Minister in his message expressed heartiest congratulations to PFWS for having undertaken its social responsibility for the nation in the forthcoming Olympics Games-2020 through a sustainable sporting programme and appreciated the hard work and excellence of 23 police wards who had achieved medals in their respective fields. Sh.Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi congratulated PFWS for its excellent work done to channelize sporting talent and appreciated national level performances. President PFWS Smt. Suchana Patnaik underlined the words of Former American President Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” We have tried to dream big and I am confident that we are going to achieve it. Sh. Manoj Barthwal, GGM (HR), ONGC expressed his happiness that ONGC, a Maharatna PSU is associated with such a competitive platform for budding sport persons to excel and enhance sporting performance. The program was concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Jyoti Chahal, chief co-ordinator PFWS followed by the National Anthem.
