A day out at the Drishyakala Art Museum:

On the 6th of April, 2019, the Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) organized a visit to the Drishyakala Art Museum in Delhi. Over 73 wards of police personnel and 15 guardians, along the President, Mrs. SuchanaPatnaik and Chief Coordinator, Ms. JyotiChahaland senior officer’s wives explored this artistic heaven. Drishyakala Art Museum (DAG) is a unique gallery for art and history lovers, located in the historic colonial building of the Red Fort. The children first saw pieces of art that showcased the great Artistic Movement through the works of Thomas and William Daniells’ picturesque colonial landscapes and aquatints. Then, they witnessed some popular prints and portraits by artists from the Independence to the recent 18th century. Finally, in the India’s National Treasure Artists segment, the children were awestruck by the creative pieces of Raja Ravi Varma, Amrita Sher-Gil, Rabindranath, Abanindranath and Gaganendranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose and many more. The most cherishable moment as the children and guardians say was when they got an opportunity to paint and sketch to showcase the immense inspiration they had received from the excursion.
