The Inauguration of ‘Swayam’

The 4th Sep. 2019, marked the day for the inauguration of PFWS’ exclusive outlet ‘Swayam’. The ceremony took place at the Baba Kharag Singh Marg, New Delhi. The chief guests for the event were Smt. SuchanaPatnaik, President, PFWS and Dr Rashmi Singh, Secretary NDMC. Besides, the event was attended by various dignitaries such as team leaders and senior members of PFWS, Sh. Sanjay Tyagi, CVO, NDMC, Sh. S.K. Jha Civil Engineer, Sh.V.K. Pandy, Chief Engineer, Sh. S. Chellaiah, Director of Horticulture).

 It aimed to promote handmade products created by the ladies of the police colonies. In addition, ‘Swayam’ speaks in volumes about their self-reliance and their well-deserved financial independence. These ladies have gained expertise in making handmade products such as Palazzos, Dohars, Potli, Saree Covers, Table Mats, Woollens, Jute Bags, Madhubani Paintings (Bed Sheets), Aprons, Night Suits, Jackets, Table Mats, Ladies Kurti, Skirt, Candle, Condiments and Pickles. The outlet ‘Swayam’ will be open six days a week and collected a remarkable amount of Rs 10,002/- on its first day.

The President PFWS presented plant and gift pack of handmade products to all prominent dignitaries for their contribution in ‘Swayam’, followed by a vote of thanks by the President of PFWS.
