About PFWS

The Police Families Welfare Society is a non-profit organization working under the aegis of the welfare unit of Delhi Police. It was established in the year 1972 with the prime objective of meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and financial needs of the families of the largest metropolitan police force in the country. Given the arduous and exacting nature of their duties, the society was entrusted with the overall well-being of the Delhi Police personnel and their families. Currently, the PFWS runs thirteen welfare centers which are located at Malviya Nagar, Vikaspuri, New Police Lines, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, Model Town, Dwarka, Jyoti Nagar, Ahata Kidara, Narela Hauz-Khas, New Kondli and Begumpur along with a  sub-centre at Ashok Vihar.

Over the years, the centers have evolved as focal points of various activities and initiatives undertaken by the PFWS and the welfare wing of the Delhi Police. All the Welfare centers are empowered by the voluntary and dedicated services of senior Delhi Police officers’ wives who are honorary members and team leaders of the society. Their sincere efforts, regular visits to their respective welfare centers, and whole-hearted commitment have fostered an unbreakable bond and provided a much-needed link between the officers and families of the Delhi Police personnel.

The core area of the society’s work involves employment generation for the Delhi Police wards to help them become more self-reliant or “Atmanirbhar.” It also works substantially in the areas of vocational training, educational enhancement, cultural revival, financial literacy, health awareness, stress management, career counseling, promoting talent in sports, fostering overall excellence, cleanliness drives, creation of employment opportunities for its retired personnel, empowerment of women and youth, and the propagation of the best welfare practices.

Delhi Police is one big family and the PFWS works in keeping with this sentiment. As new horizons open up and the world evolves, society renews its commitment to the well-being and betterment of its police families, keeping with the needs and requirements of the changing times.

In 2018, the Police Families Welfare Society acquired the 12-A and 80-G certificates under Income Tax (Exemptions) and a GST certification as well. This has enabled the society to receive CSR funding without any tax liability to carry on its good work.

The Police Families Welfare Society, which came into being five decades ago, has grown under the able leadership and guidance of all its presidents who have nurtured it at every step and given it wings. The society completed 51 glorious years of its service this year and celebrated the event on 11th April 2023 on its Sthapana Divas aptly titled “UPAAN”. PFWS reiterates its commitment to work selflessly for the welfare and betterment of the Delhi Police families with renewed dedication and vigor in the years to come.
