Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) organised TARANA - An Inter-District Cultural Competition on 12th November, 2016 at K.D. Jadhav Hall, IGI Stadium, New Delhi.
This cultural event was a part of our social initiative – WAJIFA, which is a scholarship program to support our deserving children with special needs, academic and sports achievers.
The first ever musical evening & a cultural competition amongst police families was inaugurated by Mr. Alok Kumar Verma, CP, Delhi. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion from various fields of life included chief guest Mrs. Aruni Doval, famous Sufi singer Shri Kailash Kher as well as renowned actor, singer and Member of Parliament Shri Manoj Tiwari. Fashion icon Ms. Ritu Beri, Wrestler and Olympian Mr. Sushil Kumar and young celebrity Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan wholeheartedly supported our cause by walking on the ramp with our Divyang.
The another highlight of the event was launch of dynamic website of Police Families Welfare Society with an option of online shopping cart by chief guest and it was passionately explained by Dr. Sushi Singh, Vice President, Police Families Welfare Society.
Children, youth and adults from 11 districts competed for classical / folk /contemporary dance, singing and skit / mime acts with a social message. The event concluded with the felicitation of participants, Tech. team, support staff, media, sponsors etc.
TARANA as a part of our initiative WAJIFA ended but our social commitment will continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm as Mega Job Fair on November 30, 2016.
President PFWS, Mrs. Shefali Verma concluded the day by applauding the efforts as the part of each one from police families, staff, officer’s wives & officers from Delhi Police. She added that it was truly gratifying to see the successful efforts of making the children, youth and adults of our families competing with each other for various events and it has certainly enhance the confidence and developed the sense of oneness amongst one and all.
